“My Smile”

You saw me smile

But it wasn’t real

I was holding back tears of pain

I was holding back my fear

I smiled just for you

I didn’t want to show you my pain

I hold it in every day

It’s always the same

You never know who I am

It’s just a show I play

You never have seen me smile

Not even a little

I want you to see me

I want to strip the pain away

I want my smile to be shared

Without being filled with pain
